New Google Chrome logo unveiled
A redesign of the Google Chrome logo has just been unveiled.
I think the removal of the previous logo’s tacky 3D effects is a step in the right direction. Another good move towards simplification.
The old Google Chrome logo is pictured below.

The new HTML 5 logo.
I'm afraid that people will get confused between HTML5 and The Jackson 5.

MySpaces's new logo

Set to be the next brand to get the crowdsourcing peeps going nuts is MySpace who have just unveiled their new logo which is, get this, the word “my” in Helvetica and then a symbol delineating a space. Heavens above!
I smell a PR stunt

Having stirred social media up over the past week with a much-hated new logo, Gap is right back where it started—announcing last night that it's ditching the new mark and returning to the old one.
Gap North America president Marka Hansen says in a statement: "Ultimately, we've learned just how much energy there is around our brand. All roads were leading us back to the blue box, so we've made the decision not to use the new logo on gap.com any further. At Gap brand, our customers have always come first. We've been listening to and watching all of the comments this past week. We heard them say over and over again they are passionate about our blue box logo, and they want it back. So we've made the decision to do just that—we will bring it back across all channels."
The language there is almost too perfect. Perhaps this about-face—and not the now-ditched crowdsourcing idea—is what Gap had planned from the beginning. You know—get people to talk about you for a week, admit your "mistake" (in essence, underestimating how much people love you), and have the last laugh by appearing to listen to your customers and then giving them their precious logo back—a logo they never even knew they loved.

Logo swirl sparks 'sperm' jibes
A new logo for a north Devon resort which some residents have likened to a sperm has been defended by a "laid back" council.
The "idiosyncratic" swirl incorporated in the £5,000 logo for Ilfracombe has been criticised on the town's website, but Fresh Bread Marketing, the creators of the identity, said the swirl on the logo was meant to resemble a fish or dolphin. The swirl represents the dot on the "i" of Ilfracombe on the logo "Ilfracombe - curious coastal charm".
Ellen Vernon, economic regeneration officer at North Devon Council, which helped to develop the branding project with £5,000 funding, said: "To many, the 'swirl' represents Fore Street, the Harbour, a fish, an ice-cream and even waves. To others it may look like a sperm, which makes it vibrant and life-affirming."
Is it just coincidence that The Mirror reports that this town has a dire teen pregnancy record?!

Do we heart this logo?

It doesn't really make that much sense but it's a cute and very apt spin on the legendary I heart NY logo by Milton Glaser.

Nice logo design

Designed by Morvil Design Group, this logo is for Talk, a marketing, advertising and PR firm.
The name stemmed from the idea that they get people talking about their clients’ businesses.
If, at first glance, you don't see the logo icon as quote marks, you may see it a mask, a martini glass, or maybe even a mouth, but whatever you see, it's great fun,and a clever logo.

Jewish Book Week in Miami?

Look at this picture. I spotted this 'orange tree illustration' on the side of a building in Miami Beach last week.... Very similar to the Jewish Book Week official logo to the left methinks. Hmmmm...
Any thoughts JBW people?

Continuation of the logo saga...

50, 000 have signed an online petition against the London 2012 Olympics logo, but it has now been closed after its creator realised the design was "here to stay".
Nicknames for the logo by now include 'Gay swastika puzzle' and 'Tiswas disaster'. But the leading name now is 'Lisa Simpson giving head'. Hhhmmm.

London unveils its logo for 2012 Olympics

Does anybody out there like this logo?
My friend, Struggling Author, rightly calls it a "crumpled crisp packet swastika"
This is the icon that is supposed to sum up what London 2012 is all about. The jagged emblem in bold colours, has apparently been designed to define the image of the Games in five years' time.
The logo, based on the date 2012 itself, comes in a series of bright shades of pink, blue, green and orange, and includes the signature five Olympic rings emblazoned onto the "0".
I myself can't stand it.
I've seen the BBC News website has some of the alternative logos... so much better.
Have a look at them - especially no. 11 - just great!
