Last night, for one night only, New York guru Malcolm Gladwell replaced The Lion King at the Lyceum in London.
Considered to be “the most influential thinker of the iPod generation” (The Observer), the thought of Gladwell bringing his big ideas to the West End stage was a tantalising prospect, and i was looking forward to hearing him.
But, in fact, like Stephen Moss's spot-on review in the Guardian, I felt that Gladwell's theses got lost in the clouds.
As Moss says, You end up wondering "why am I here with all these people in expensive spectacles sending text messages?", and, more insidiously, "wouldn't I prefer to be watching The Lion King?"
