Split Family Faces

How much do you and your family members really look alike? Canada-based graphic designer and photographer, Ulric Collette, has created a brilliant project where he's exploring the genetic similarities between different members of the same family. By splitting their faces in half and then splicing them together, he creates interesting new people that are sometimes are quite normal looking and other times far from it. He calls this series Genetic Portraits. Out of interest, it's Ulric, the artist, who appears in the first portrait, below.

An Exhibition for Hipstamatics

'Hipstamatics' is the first European showcase of snapshots taken using the popular iPhone app that allows mobile phones to mimic antique analog cameras (it was actually awarded ‘App of the year’ by Apple in 2010).

Hipstamatic Facts:
- The original Hipstamatic analog camera was launched In 1982 by brothers Bruce and Winston Dorbowski.
- By the end of 1984 the group had manufactured and sold 157 units.
- The two brothers were tragically killed in a road accident that very same year, meaning that Hipstamatic never became mass produced.
- Now the Hipstamatic iPhone App has sought to recreate the magic of the original Hipstamatic analog cameras. It's got high-res output and gives anyone the ability to hand pick which film, flash and lense is best for a shot. I for one am a fan.

Another reason to upgrade to the iPhone 4 !

San-Francisco-based photographer Joey Celis decided to merge two iconic devices together and created a Leica M9 skin for the iPhone. How cool is that?!

Although the situation has improved, ash from Iceland's Eyjafjallajokull volcano continues to cause havoc. Gathered here are some of the most staggering images from Iceland I have seen over the past week.

Lady Gaga's getting creative for Polaroid

Polaroid are hiring 23 year old Lady Gaga as creative director.

Her role will take her behind the scenes of the 70-year-old company, which retired its analogue camera last year, where she will design and invent speciality projects.

According to Polaroid’s product pipeline, those projects will aim to deliver an easy-to-use or access digital experience, designed for instant fun and gratification…. Hhhmm

She said: "The Haus of Gaga has been developing prototypes in the vein of fashion/technology/photography innovation - blending the iconic history of Polaroid and instant film with the digital era. Lifestyle, music, art, fashion: I am so excited to extend myself behind the scenes as a designer, and to as my father puts it - finally, have a real job."

Cruising with Andrew Bush

By attaching a camera to the passenger side window of his car, LA photographer Andrew Bush took photos of his subjects whilst driving (often travelling at 60mph) beside them in and around LA, a city famous for it's car culture. Days With My Father by Phil Toledano

Phil Toledano recently released a photo essay titled Days With My Father. A touching compilation of photos taken after the death of Toledano's mother, the images give an intimate look at the father-son relationship and serve as a time capsule of the period. Although very simple and sparse, the series captures huge emotion.

Created by Fashionbuddha, the elegant design and functionality of the site compliments the work by allowing the photos to stand on their own and speak for themselves. I found it to be inspiring and at times heart-wrenching.
